Abstract

Travelogue is a genre of travel literature, which has been the part and parcel of the human beings from thousands of years. In the ancient times, travelogues have been composed by travellers in shape of books, but in the modern times documentary and films.


The first Balochi travelogue was written by Abdullah Jan Jamaldini in April 1957, then published in ‘MātākBalochi’, a monthly magazine from Karachi. Nevertheless, a series of travelogues published in the monthly magazines like ‘Māhtāk Balochi’ and ‘Omān’ in 50s-60s.


After 60s a series of travelogue writers appeared in the Balochi magazines to promote this genre of literature in Balochi. The most prominent travelogue writers appeared were, Abdul Samad Amiri, Qazi Abdul Rahim Sabir, Molvi Khair Muhammad Nadvi, Siddiq Azat, Mir Aqil Khan Mengal, Hakim Baloch, Ghani Parwaz, Habibullah Amir, Ayub Baloch, Dr. Ali Dost and many others put their contributions in this genre of literature. Moreover, a few books of travelogues have also been written in Balochi very recently.


This research paper highlights the historical background, techniques, academic standards and deficiencies of Balochi travelogue from 60s till date. This research also illustrates the different phases of Balochi travelogues, its language standards and writing techniques.
